Well the summer didn't go entirely to plan unfortunately. The only things that happened on the action list are 2 and 3. I did get all the ball joints I need and a new digital camera. Other than that I have spent all summer working full time, earning money, but I have no idea where its all gone!

Heres some new pics of bits for you.

Wishbones

Primed with zinc primer and painted in gloss black. In hindsight it would have been easier to get them powder coated, and I would recommend that route to anyone...!

Uprights

These took around 2 days to do in total. Its difficult to undo ball joint nuts and caliper bolts when theres nothing to hold the upright still!

When the uprights arrived with me they were in a bad state. Covered in 30 years worth of road muck, and the splash sheilds had almost disintegrated. However with the help of a pursuading stick and large hammer they were promptly dismantled and given the treatment of 'the tool' (an angle rinder with a wire brush attachment). I would recommend a mask, proper goggles and thick overalls before attempting the use of the tool, as the bristles from the brush fly out and by the end of it you will look like a hedgehog.

After the treatement the uprights were nice and shiny, and you could even still read the Ford part numbers on them. The hubs are a bit more tricky to attack with the tool, so I used a disc type wire brush in an electric drill which was pretty effective. (Sorry I have no  pictures of the uprights after the treatment).

After a thorough wash in white spirit to get all the old grease and crap off, the uprights were degreased and given a coat of red oxide primer then 3 coats of black hammerite. And I think they look mighty fine now!

When they were reassembled new hub centre caps, bearings and disks were fitted, along with all new bolts (ensuring they are at least a match to the original spec!). The result of this had work is shown below.

A total cost for the uprights stands at some £130, not too bad.
