Well I move back home once again this month, which leaves me with dial up internet unfortunately. I will try to do a few text only updates when possible! And will upload all of the pics when I return in september.
I have rung GTS today (3rd June) and the order is on progress to be finished before the scheduled pick up day of the 24th. However I cannot get down before then due to other commitments. None the less its only 3 weeks away, how excited am I?! However this fortnight at home gives me a chance to clean up my gearbox, diff, hubs and driveshafts ready to drop into the chassis when i pick it up! It also gives me time to source a few more odds like P-clips and brake fittings.
The summers plan:
- Get some 1mm aluminium sheet to make the interior panels from (transmission tunel panels and seat bulkhead are all that is required here, the rest is all GRP).
- Get a DVLA inspection as soon as possible, to get this part of the legislation out of the way.
- Get the chassis rolling by the middle of july, which means having the side panels cut and all of the pipework and wiring laid out.
- Have the engine in by the end of july. This means having the fuel system sorted as well as brakes and cooling.
- Get it running and driveable under its own power by the middle of august. This will be a major step, but should be acheiveable in 1.5months as I have most of the necessary parts to allow it to happen.
- Get the rest of the bodywork and seats fitted.
The overall aim is to have an essentially finished car, barr a few finishing touches which can be finished of over the next year during Uni holidays. SVA should be booked for around a years time. I think this is doable given decent weather to allow me to get some work done during the week after work as well as at the weekend.
The kit was picked up as arranged. Everything was there that I required except some engine mounts, but these were promptly sent out to me. (The supplier had sent Darren the wrong ones, so it wasnt his fault)
Heres some pictures of the kit settled into its new home:

We left home at 5:30am on the day of collection in the extra longwheel base Iveco van. To give you an idea how huge it was there was enough room for the chassis and all the bodywor to sit behind it. Getting in and out of GTS was a little less fun (those of you have been there will know what its like!)
