Well the deposit has now been paid on the following:
Powder coated chassis
Full GRP bodywork (Yellow)
Adjustable Shock Kit
Engine mounts
Propshaft
Floor pan
Pedal set
Cycle wing supports
They should be ready to be picked up on the 24th of June which is a fortnight after I start work. Now all I need to do is work out how to afford it!
I went to Stoneleigh National Kit Car Show on the 30th April. Was a good show, and it was great to meet up with a few people from Locostbuilders.co.uk. I also managed to pick up a few bits and pieces from various people:
Kent Cams High Pressure Oil Pump
Whether I will use it or not I dont know. But I may as well, nothing more important than adequate lubrication in your engine! £25
Mocal screw top filler cap
Should be OK for SVA as there is no requirement for the fuel cap to lock (only to be leak proof). Got a bit of fuel pipe with it as well which was handy. £10
Starter motors
Got a couple of starters here now. Not sure if they are suitable, but they were free so I shan't complain if they aren't suitable.
Distributor and Coil

Got hold of a Bosch dizzy from an RS2000 so it has points. Easily modifiable for use on tuned engines without the need for buying another one. Also got hold of a new high performance Bosch Red coil complete with its own ballast resistor, just means i need to bypass the one built into the loom, no big deal.
Twin Weber 40 DCOEs

Not much of an upgrade over the 38DGAS, but its worth it for the noise and kudos! These should be here very soon. They need a complete strip and service, and one has a sticky throttle spindle, investigations will have to take place, but I would guess the bearings have gotten clogged up with manky old grease which is going solid. Either that or the accelerator pump is a bit sticky. I will have a look and report my findings!
Update: Carbs arrived. A bit mucky, but thats to be expected really as they arent new and are probably the best part of 30 years old. That said they appear in good condition, one of the idle mixture screws is seized, but its soaking in penetrating oil as we speak and is freeing off nicely. The sticky throttle spindle on further investigation is the result of a snapped return spring which is included in the service kit so its no problem! All they need now is slightly rejetting and they are ready to go. The pics show some before and after my treatment. They cleaned up well I think!
Manifold + Linkage for Webers
Got a manifold for the carbs, in very good nick. Plus it only cost me £30 instead of the £80+ quoted by many places for a bit of cast alloy! The linkage is a twin cable arrangement, I might have to fabricate a linkage to join the twin pedals to the accelerator though! Linkage also cost £30.
Fuel Pressure Regulator

With the use of twin carbs comes all the hassle of fueling. One of those being that all of the after market high flow fuel pumps put out too high of a pressure. This results in flooding the carbs as fuel is forced past the closed needle valve. A pressure reg sorts that problem. And mine cost £12, second hand, but mint. Coupled to the regulator will be a Facet Solid State Fast Road fuel pump. These will supply somewhere in the region of 18 gallons/hour at 6 psi. Plenty for almost any road going engine! Cost £15 including the pre-filter.
ITG Foam Filters

I bought a pair of ITG double trumpet socks (2 of the above) as these flow considerably better than K&N filters due to the air being able to go straight into the trumpets rather that turning 90deg with the K&Ns. Only paid £30 for the pair, and they are still brand new and bagged up. Hopefully I can get some of the cash back by selling the K&Ns.
Rockers and Spray Bar

Got a complete new set of Kent Rockers and a Spray Bar for £28 delivered. The followers are the std CF36 rockers. I believe there is an error on the Kent site saying that the FR22 cam requires CF12 (long pad) followers, however it is well under the lift required to need long pad followers. Time will tell. Its easy enough to get another set of rockers if it comes to that!
Brake Pipe and Fittings
Std copper 3/16" diameter pipe here. Bought including 10 male and 10 female ends for £7.50. Bargain. Should have most of the bits there to do the car with. I know I need a few extra bits though. Before anyone says about using plain copper pipe, I am aware of the problems with fatigue, but a well supported pipe will not be a problem.
All that's really left to get for the kit is the finishing bits. Hopefully about another £800 should see it on the road and running around! That will put the total cost at £4,500 on the road.
